High-quality Sugarcane Breeding and Efficient Utilization of Nutrient in Sugarcane



Team Members:


Our team currently has 2 professors, 2 associate professors, 1 assistant professor, 2 postdoctoral fellows, and 35 graduate students. Our research mainly focuses on  important scientific issues and core key technologies in the breeding of high-quality sugarcane varieties and efficient utilization of nutrient resources. And we conducted fundamental and applied research on high sucrose yield, high productivity, and disease resistance in sugarcane. The research has been carried out at different levels, including the identification of important functional genes in sugarcane, analysis of disease resistance mechanisms, breeding of disease-resistant varieties, and propagation of virus-free healthy seedlings. Significant scientific achievements have been obtained in sugarcane breeding for disease resistance through the systematic analysis of pathogenic molecular mechanisms of viral and fungal diseases in sugarcane.
